Paraprofessionals

The Green Bay Area Public School District hires paraprofessionals throughout our schools to support teachers and students in a variety of ways. Positions may include: 

  • Special Education Paraprofessional - whose unique duties may include facilitating student's use of mobility equipment such as leg braces, walkers, mobile standers, and tricycles; using physical restraint or seclusion in compliance with state and federal law and District policies and procedures;  and assisting with personal health care of students including changing diapers, toileting students, changing students' clothing, showering students, tube feeding, and catheterizing. 
  • Bilingual Paraprofessional - whose unique duties may include interpreting and translating for students, parents, counselors, teachers, and others assigned. 

Qualifications Required

Education:

  • Have at least two years of post-secondary education that is equivalent to at least 48 semester hours from an accredited higher education institution, OR
  • Have obtained an associate (or higher) degree, OR
  • Have met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness).
