New Educator Support

Mentors

Each new educator is assigned a veteran staff member as their mentor for their first year. This purposeful partnership provides one-on-one support for the new educator through both impromptu and intentionally planned learning-focused conversations. Mentors assist in supporting the new educator in their practice by responding to in-time questions, discussing their challenges, celebrating their growth, and navigating them to helpful resources.

Educators that transfer to a new school or content area/grade level may request a mentor.

First Year Workshops

The Comprehensive Educator Induction Program kicks off the school year and then continues as an ongoing seminar for initial educators, providing grounding and support in the philosophy, policies, and practices of GBAPS during their first year. Expert teams from the around the District engage educators in timely professional learning on topics including classroom management and the classroom environment, family engagement, Multi-Level Systems of Support, Educator Effectiveness, building inclusive classrooms and more.

“As a young teacher coming out of college where you could work anywhere, Green Bay offers so many opportunities to continue to grow as an educator, and continue to learn.”

Jessica, Head Start Teacher
